The sequence below is the same for a small church lot and for a large community, and the schedule depends on weather and on how many phases the property needs.
1. Free Estimate and Site Walk
The estimator walks the lot with the owner or manager, measures the area, probes soft spots and notes where water collects. A free written estimate follows, listing each phase on its own line with the rolled thickness. Boards can circulate it to members and compare it with other bids without translating a lump sum. Photos of problem areas are added to the file for later comparison.
2. Planning the Phases
Closures are mapped on a plan before work starts, with each section tied to a date. Entrances stay open as long as possible, and signs go up ahead of each closure. Apartment managers, church staff and shop owners get a schedule they can hand to residents, tenants and customers. Dumpsters, equipment and material deliveries are placed where they leave fire lanes and accessible routes clear.
3. Demolition and Base Work
Failed asphalt is cut out and hauled away section by section, and soft clay is dug out and replaced with crushed stone. The stone is graded for drainage and compacted in layers. Base work decides how long the lot lasts, so this stage is never rushed, even when the weather is perfect. Utility lids and drain grates are protected or raised to match the finished surface.
4. Paving and Rolling
Hot mix is spread by a paver at the thickness on the estimate and rolled while still warm. Seams, curbs and drain edges are finished by hand. Larger lots receive a binder course and a surface course in turn. Rain pauses the work, because wet ground prevents the layers from bonding. Joints between sections are rolled twice so a seam never becomes the weak spot.
5. Striping and Handover
Stalls, arrows, fire lanes and accessible spaces are marked from the plan once the asphalt can take paint. Cars return when the crew confirms the surface is ready, usually after two to three days for ordinary traffic. A last walk with the manager closes the job. A clean lot and a short note on caring for the new surface come with it, and the warranty paperwork goes in your file.
